Bend Aircraft

Bend Aircraft - Born in the experimental market from Lancair, Epic says it has over 80 advance E1000 deposits from around the world and two productions facilities totaling over 300,000 square feet at its Bend headquarters. It expects to build about 50 planes a year.

Marking with a fine point felt tip is OK or a small file mark is acceptable. Note that there is extra material left at each end - this can be removed later, after all the forming is complete.

The sketch above shows a typical wire form of a cabane strut. We need to calculate the bend allowances of the four bends (0.452" from above calculation) and lay out on a length of the correct diameter wire.

The E1000 GX, equipped with the Garmin GFC 700 Automated Flight Control System and the Hartzell 5-Blade Composite Propeller, offers unparalleled performance, safety, comfort, and versatility. It's the fastest, most affordable, and spacious six-seat single-engine turboprop in the world.

Advanced Aviation prides itself on helping to build the safest and highest quality aircraft possible. Their aircraft have won several awards at the Oshkosh, Sun-n-Fun, and Arlington air shows. Aaron and Mike are both pilots and aircraft owners who understand the importance of flying and owning a safe, reliable aircraft.

And Schrader noted the COVID-19-related problems in the aviation industry extend well beyond Epic Air. This week, Textron Aviation, the parent of Wichita, Kansas-based plane-makers Cessna and Beechcraft, announced it would furlough 7,000 workers and adjust production due to falling demand for aircraft.

The company won its FAA type certification last fall, a goal in 2012 that allows it to start selling fully company-built planes, rather than ones labeled "experimental" in which the buyer has to help finish it.

Over the years we have helped construct a wide variety of kits, and now the Lancair Evolution. Give us a call to see how we can help you build one of these amazing planes or any other experimental kit aircraft.

Located on the Bend Oregon airport (KBDN), they operate from an 8000 sq.ft. hanger that you can easily fly into. The Bend area is an excellent location to build your plane and has some of the best outdoor recreations such as golfing, hiking, fishing, boating, river rafting, snow skiing, great restaurants, and shopping.

With several hotels and resorts close by to accommodate your stay, building your aircraft couldn't get much better. My example is a little different from that shown in the photograph - mine has plain posts instead of the rollers.

Another difference can be that the hole in the bar is at a small angle to the vertical. This helps when forming coils and allows the wire to bend over the formed wire easier. All of these examples work well and the only thing that is important is that you know the diameter of the post or roller that contacts the wire.

This determines the radius that the wire will be formed to. In my case. the diameter of the post is 3/8" so the radius that I get is 3/16"(0.188"). All my wire bends will be this dimension. Check your bender and make a test bend to confirm.

Aaron Brook owns and operates Advanced Aviation, Inc. an experimental aircraft builders assist shop in Bend, Oregon. Aaron first worked with Lancair beginning in 1992 in the construction of many of their prototype aircraft including the Lancair ES, Tigress, Legacy, and Evolution.

Aaron has more than 19 years of aircraft building experience and also traveled extensively as a building consultant. Assisted by his long-time associate Mike Custard, together they have assisted in the completion of more than 30 aircraft and have implemented many unique innovations that have reduced the time and costs of building and maintaining an experimental aircraft.

We work closely with the aircraft builders to ensure that each plane is customized to their individual tastes and that a safe and dependable aircraft leaves our facility. Our role in the construction process is to provide facilities, equipment, expert advice, and a portion of the actual construction labor.

This allows the owner to complete the 51% required for experimental aircraft. Advanced Aviation developed the firewall forward package utilizing the Garrett TPE 331-6 Turbine engine. This engine application in the Lancair IV-P greatly improved the performance and fuel efficiency and can be adapted to most experimental aircraft.

Epic Aircraft, based in Bend, Oregon, is the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance, all-composite, six-seat single-engine turboprop aircraft. The award-winning E1000 GX's artful combination of turbine power, composite technology, advanced avionics, and unforgettable luxury, packaged in a sleek, elegant airframe, caused the aviation industry to take notice.

And they haven't stopped. BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend's Epic Aircraft, just weeks away from clearing the final regulatory hurdle to ramp up production of its high-tech, $3.25 million plane, laid off most of its 325 workers at its Bend Airport plant on Friday, having run into

COVID-19 impacts, from an FAA review slowdown to vendor supply issues.
